Objectives

Gravitate North East’s near term objective, that best meets our aims, is a facility primarily for mountain bikers in Aberdeenshire with these key elements.

An Established Location –  The facility will be close to existing infrastructure; providing easy access to local facilities and integrated with the local community. The facility should either expand a known mountain biking area, or mitigate a local problem or demand, such as limited parking in an area.

All Weather Trails  – The facility should have trails that can be ridden in all conditions and all year round, offering consistency to visitors and reducing wear on the natural trail network.

Trails for a range of abilitiesThe facility should have a selection of trails that suit  different abilities within groups and families. This will allow them to visit the facility together, to all be active and progress their skills.

Car Park And FacilitiesThe facility should provide purpose built car parking and facilities close to the trails. This will reduce pressure on informal parking and village car parks. Toilet facilities should be provided on site.

UpliftAn uplift, ferrying riders and bikes uphill,  should be included to both increase participation and to offer a facility which is not yet provided in Aberdeenshire. Uplift also provides a revenue stream.

Mountain Biking Centre And CafeThe facility should have the potential to include a building that can form a centre providing refreshments, biking facilities, space for business partners, community groups and other adventure tourism activities.
