Our vision is to help transform the North-East of Scotland into a global adventure destination for mountain biking, alpine sports and outdoor pursuits by building an inclusive adventure hub for the community that offers a unique blend of world-class activities accessible to all.

Backdropped by Scotland’s mountainous Cairngorms, the £14 million community project aims to develop a 256-hectare wooded landscape at Durris Forest into an adventure park, offering:
•  44km of chairlift-serviced mountain bike trails
•  Alpine slopes for skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing and tubing
•  Exhilarating pursuits such as climbing, bouldering, tree top rope courses and ziplining
•  Enchanting nature-inspired experiences in the woodland

Health Benefits

With our lives becoming increasingly hectic, we recognise that being active outdoors and connecting with nature is more important than ever. We hope the project will help everyone live active, healthy and happy lifestyles by:
• Creating fun, safe and accessible adventure activities in a location that is tranquil yet close to Aberdeen city
• Increasing opportunities for regular physical activity, helping people reduce their risk of obesity and diabetes
•  Promoting the positive impacts of outdoor recreation on both physical and mental wellbeing – from reducing depression and relieving stress, to improving quality of life

Social Benefits

Great outdoor experiences bring communities, groups, friends and families together – enriching people’s lives by:
•  Making our region a more exciting, adventurous and healthier place to live and visit
•  Inspiring children, young people, and adults to connect with nature and be active outdoors
•  Empowering people to participate in adventure sports through training, learning, and education opportunities
•  Creating personal opportunities to experience something new, relax, escape and rejuvenate
•  Hosting major sporting and cultural events

Economic Benefits

Once built and operational, the project is expected to significantly raise the global profile of Aberdeen city and shire and have big economic impacts; supporting our region’s regeneration by:
•  Creating around 80 new jobs
•  Adding £2.6 million per year to the local economy
•  Welcoming more than 120,000 visitors each year
